Madheshi Commission concerned over language used for oath by CK Raut

The Madheshi Commission has asked the Parliament Secretariat to clarify why some lawmakers including CK Raut were allowed to take an oath of office and secrecy in ‘Madheshi’ language.

Issuing a press release on Friday, the commission said it is concerned about complaints received from different means regarding the oath-taking.

The commission added that taking an oath in a language not included in the official list of the government and the commission will have a negative impact on other languages.

“As it appears that the ‘Madhesi language’ has not been included in the list of official languages by the Language Commission and the commission, the oath by House of Representatives members in the language is a matter of serious concern. It has created a negative impact on listed language. -eKantipur
