Deputy Prime Minister Ravi Lamichhane found guilty in citizenship case

The Supreme Court ruled that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane did not regain Nepalese citizenship according to the law.

After relinquishing his American citizenship, the court ruled that all the acts done by Ravi as a Nepali citizen will be illegal, saying that he used the citizenship that had been revoked without regaining his Nepali citizenship.

With this decision of the constitutional bench, Ravi Lamichhane's position as minister and MP has been cancelled. Similarly, he is also disqualified to become the chairman of the National Independent Party.

Advocate Raviraj Basaula filed a case against Lamichhane in the Supreme Court.

The Constitutional Bench headed by Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki had Justices Vishwambhar Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinh.
